Reality Shows Are Serious Business
November 4th, 2007 by The Money Moose
Turns out that it’s not all fun and and games for reality TV. For every five people that appear on a show like American Idol or Project Runway, there are hundreds of others that don’t make the cut. We can’t all be famous, now can we? The people that don’t make it spend thousands of dollars trying to get on the show and get nothing for their efforts.
“TO say Tom Sullivan likes “Survivor” would be a gross understatement. Mr. Sullivan, a radio and television host in Atlanta, auditioned five times for this reality show, which has a $1 million prize. He spent hours shooting, editing and mailing videotapes of himself to producers and casting agents, and has traveled to four cities to compete for the honor of not being voted off the island.”
Now that’s effort. Too bad he hasn’t ever been on the show.
That’s the way things work, though. You don’t always get what you want, but other people do. Remember: others ALWAYS have it better than you. Unless you’re Bill Gates. That guy makes more money overnight sleeping than most do in their entire life.
I think I’m going to start a reality show about the people who want to get on reality shows. I’ll chronicle their progress in auditioning and, if they make it big, I won’t give them anything. While they gloat in success on the actual show they won, I’ll slip away into the shadows before they can ask me what they won.
Brilliant.

Dare I suggest a survival show for desperate bloggers?

We can place them on an island where, for every 300 visits they get, they receive a meal.
That’d be intense.
