Free hugs for your RSS feed
November 25th, 2007 by The Money Moose
If you’ve got a blog with an RSS feed and it’s feeling sad, then you might want to give it a hug with rssHugger, a new service that seems to be a web directory for RSS feeds.
Now I don’t usually do internet marketing related articles but I’ve decided that my original plan of spelling out my blog URL in the sky with exhaust fumes from a rental airplane wasn’t going to work out. This website, on the otherhand, promises this:
“rssHugger is a new website developed to help bloggers promote their blogs, and to help visitors discover new blogs that write about subjects that the readers are interested in. Through the power of the internet and viral marketing, rssHugger looks to bring blog writers and blog readers closer together…. rssHugger will be the first ever quality, spam free, and viral rss directory strictly for bloggers.”
rssHugger seems like an interesting idea that hasn’t been tried out before, and it’ll probably make your blog very happy. Who wouldn’t want an orange stick figure guy hugging them? Seriously, though, if it all works out it’ll provide:
- Backlinks to your blog
- New readers for your RSS feed
- Traffic for your blog
Currently it only has about 110 feeds but this number is steadily growing and it seems to be a great way to promote your blog. You can even join free if you write an honest review of what you think of it. We’ll just have to see how this one turns out.

I’ve been accepted to rssHugger and you can find my feed here. Spiffy, no?

Webster: Feeds are convenient ways of getting content from peoples blogs/websites to you. It’s faster than manually going to the site and reading the info there.
You can subscribe to a feed by pressing and RSS button on it and choosing a reader to use - readers are things that process the feeds and display them to you. For example, the Google reader if you have a Google account. There are various types of readers and they’re quite handy.
If you want some more in-depth knowledge then check out the wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rss_feed

Hopefully that’ll help you out!
