Coffee and Alcohol Cost Money? I Never Knew.

November 8th, 2007 by The Money Moose

coffee money Shocking new developments have arisen about alcohol and coffee - to obtain them, you generally need to pay something called money (whatever that is).

Yes, folks, it’s true. Unless you practice thievery or work at Starbucks, you probably won’t get coffee for free. As the illustration to the right shows, to buy a gigantic cup of steaming coffee (with the steam cut off in a straight line) you need a tiny and slightly blurred one dollar bill that can stand upright on one of its edges.

In all seriousness, caffeine and alcohol affect your budget. Every beer, double mocha cream cappuccino fruity strawberry espresso latte, and wine bottle you purchase will affect your budget.

“NOAH COLE…recently tracked his household expenses in order to close a few gaps in his own budget. Although Mr. Cole did find some ways to adjust his expenses, “my wife and I were spending about $150 a month on coffee,” he said. But until I asked him to do so, he hadn’t examined what he was spending on alcohol. It was $75 for the week. “I was surprised it was that high,” he said.”

It can be expected that you’ll spend between $100-600 on coffee and booze in a month, depending on lifestyle, but is this really a bad thing? Some of the worlds greatest inventions were created while drunk, like… uh… the drunk dial? Peeing on cars people bushes outside of a bar? Not being able to operate machinery? Drunk driving? Without these inventions, we’d be…

Okay. Maybe alcohol isn’t that good for the creative process. What about caffeine, though? Surely that’s useful. It stimulates the brain, makes you alert, and wakes you up in the morning. Of course, an apple or two might just have the same effect.

Whether that’s true or not, the benefits of alcohol and caffeine can’t be denied.

Actually, they can.

Meh.

Chug on!

Heh, I’m sure the same can be said for people that smoke cigarettes. Its funny, people complain about how they don’t have enough money, and don’t even consider all the expenses on things they could easily do without, especially alcohol.

yeah i agree, it’s really crazy how much money people spend on alcohol and coffee. Especially coffee, at starbucks and such. It’s amazing how high coffee shops are able to make their prices now in days. I went to a coffee shop recently where they had coffees for twenty dollars, twenty dollars! It’s ridiculous, but of course i’m not addicted to coffee yet so that may change lol. I found you off blogcatalog btw.

On two to three hours of sleep on a typical night, caffeine is needed for my survival.

I love a good cup of coffee but won’t be spending $4 a cup for an espresso at a stand. I buy Starbucks, Seattle’s Best and other good brands by the package and brew it at home. Still a great cup of joe without the big sticker price.

I’d probably be shocked if I could add up my coffee expenses. I’d bet it would be a nice deposit toward building a new house. But yes, it does cost money. There ain’t no free lunch, that’s for sure.

I am addicted to caffeine and it is more addicting than any alcohol and cigarette or drug that you can buy. That is my excuse and I am sticking to it :P. On the other hand thanks for visiting my site and leaving a comment!

I can’t get by with out my morning coffee. Thankfully brewing a pot of coffee in the morning is slightly cheaper than going to Starbucks or Tim Hortons!

    Peace
